360 keyboard joypad

I dont really see the point of it to be honest, whats wrong with using a regular usb keyboard in one of the usb ports? I can see people using this and hitting butons by accident etc, would just get frustrating id imagine.

looks like one of those failed hardware gadgets from the past lol

Agreed, it has failure stamped all over it. HOWEVER, I can see this being a success. Now they are adding MSN capabilities I can see a lot of the MSN users buying this for the 360. Looks to me like one of those sidekick phones that are very popular with the instant messaging folk.

This is much better than a USB keyboard which is hassle to keep swapping over to, in game, every time you get a message.

I reckon this will sell by the bucketload in USA, and not so much elsewhere.

Have it on your lap/by your side. It's infinitely easier to use than that monstrosity will be.

I think the picture is not official. It doesn't say anywhere that is an official picture and the original article from gamespot is now gone. They just describe the attachment as being a keyboard that plugs in to the headphone jack. I think that is just a Photoshop someone has done. I see the real attachment looking more Sidekick like (in terms of keybd layout):

If it looks like the one in the original picture when released, then I agree it won't be very useable.

I'll be sticking to my USB keyboard. And why don't you wait for a convenient break in a game before sending a message? Make 'em wait! I do :)

Looks alright to me. I was thinking it would have been better to build something like this into the remote though rather than the controller - could have just had a snap open DVD remote with a mini keyboard inside.

I dont like the Messenger feature they are adding, it would be a pain in the arse to have people messenging you with crap while you're in game!

My money is on a 'shop. The colours of the keys and text on the keys doesn't match the 360 'theme'.

Oh and to hold and type with it at the same time would be nigh on impossible. The majority of the weight of the controller is near the top and battery compartment, so holding it lower down would be a strain on your fingers.

It's not a shop - though i admit that was my first thought too. Major Nelson posted the pic on his Flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/majornelson/451565850/ and mentioned it in his blog.

I don't really send many messages myself. I bet i could count them on my fingers and i've had 360 since late Dec 2005.
