Hello there, wonder if someone could help! When I'm running my 360 through my Sammy LE26R41B I can notice faint lines moving up and down the screen (especially on black screens) and was wondering if this is the case for anyone else? I've tried the VGA port on my PC and it works perfectly (no lines at all moving up and down) but this is the second VGA cable and still the same problem, don't get it when using component either, slightly annoying but if the port was faulty sure it would do it on black screens when I use it as my PC monitor. All of my other things such as freeview work perfectly, so I'm finding it a bit odd! I've only had the TV for a few weeks too.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks!

PS this is the official VGA cable.

So these black lines do not appear with the same cable used when yo use the tv as your pc monitor (with black screens), but they do with your 360?

That would say to me that its more likely be the 360 end rather than the tv end ( as the black lines would also appear in pc mode if the tv / vga port was at fault)

Possibly check your dashboard settings on the x360, maybe something wrong set here?

Aye, youve tested quite comprehensively, effectively ruling out it being the screen.

Sounds like it might be the output from the xbox.. although ive never heard of this problem before. Do as Frank says, are you running optical from the VGA or any speakers?

Hey, I'm using the official VGA cable for the 360 with no additional speakers etc and using a normal VGA lead for my PC. I've submitted an RMA with the company I bought it from because it's puzzling me, I've tried two official cables and two Xbox's in my house and still the same, but it works fine on the PC, very odd problem.

Also the lines arn't black (maybe I explained badly) but you can see faint "lines" moving up and down on the darker screens, very faint white I would say it's very odd.

do you think they could be " tv scanning lines"?

Stupid question its an lcd not a crt so forget i asked.

THe thing that puzzles me is that if it was an xbox output problem as such, then it should show up no matter what varient of cable / connection you used, and yet using componant the problem doesnt occur.

I think there must be something in dashboard which is particular to componant output that has to be turned off? I am at work so dont know but its a guess.

I do remember people saying on this forum in general that there were problems with the official vga cable as apposed to 3rd party one - but I cant remember what the problem was inparticular.

yeah I was thinking it could be the scanning lines perhaps, my bro has an LCD Samsung 19" LCD and it's fine on his though, it does seem odd, I may give my 3rd party VGA cable a shot and see if that makes a difference.

I think you will find it hard to rma the xbox simply because you admit that thru componant it doesnt show up ( so its either the vga cable or the tv) and its not the tv as your pc thru the vga port doesnt display the same symptons.

Now I would also agree that you have seemingly tried other xbox vga cables and had no luck there - which means cables are also good.

The last option really is some kind of setup problem - which isnt rma worthy and you will end up being charged for engineers time too possibly ( for checkin for a fault when there isnt one if you see what i mean)

Your only option really is to use the componant input on the tv and invest in a switchbox if need be. Unless you can trace source of interference (dishwasher / clothes washer being on close by?)

Sorry I meant I've RMA'ed the TV. I know my Xbox 360's arn't faulty. TV is being collected tomorrow :)

Whilst sat here thinking I actually do remember having a few odd issues a few days into using it, when I was using the 360 via VGA sometimes it would randomly change the channel to my freeview on the scart connection, this happened twice, I'm thinking my VGA port is faulty.

Just received my replacdment! The online stores RMA turnaround is excellent, I sent it back on friday and received the new one today, must say I'm impressed! Will test it out soon :)

Hope this ones a bit better for you. Got mine the other day, running over component using the official cable, yet to try my VGA lead. But absolutely loving the screen.

hmm it still doing the same on this new set, everything else is fine. This is really puzzling me! Even plugged it into the wall. I'm going to move the set to my mums room and try it there, I do notice they appear to disappear when I set it to 1280x720, but when running it at 1360 x 768 they appear? Very odd, I know it's not the TV now at least.

Hi, I don't know if this will affect the VGA output, but have you tried using the component cable to switch the Xbox to output 50 or 60hz?

Flick the switch on the component cable to TV mode, then head to Display Settings and change the Pal mode to 50hz. Unplug the component and try the VGA. If there is no change, repeat the procedure and try Pal 60 then plug the VGA back in.

Failing that, are you getting 1:1 pixel mapping in 1360 x 768?
To check, you should have a column of unused black pixels on the left and the right sides of the picture.

If not, run Auto Adjustment from the display's PC menu

:)

I have to say I would have been very surprised had swapping the tv worked.

Can I ask wh you dont just stick with componant output, as you know this works ok?

I personally think its some kind of interference - even though I have no idea what.

Component sucks in comparison..honestly. Anyway It works fine at 1280 x 720 on VGA so I'm sticking with that :)

didnt these screen suffer a firmware bug? i think a lot of peeps with these screens a few months back, had probs over vga and component when using the xbox, i think if you comntact samsung uk they send out a firmware upgrade kit witch fixes the issue.
