Bit of a noob in regards to this, I have my PS3 streaming media from my mainPC using TVersity.

I want to do the same with my 360, what do I need? I don't have Media Center, do I need it?

There used to be an application that you could install on your PC that acted as a server and you could stream that way. Is this app still available?

Che-has!

Wel I'm hoping too but how can I find my PC on the 360? It's a wireless connection.

With the application I spoke of in my OP, you just went to "Computers" in "System". Doesn't work now..I used ethernet before mind, not wireless.

There's a new version out apparently, try that. Seems the fall update has caused some problems.

windows media connect you can just install on your pc and it picks up your 360 fine and shares what ever folders you chose! dont think you can find it on the windows website but it is on filefront i believe

If you want to avoid using any extra software, and you have windows XP and Windows Media Player 11, then thats all you need to stream Divx/Xvid/mp4 files including 720p content.

I find WMP11 the best. I already had it on my PC and once it is all setup, my 360 finds my PC real easy and gets all the folders and files I share. Very slick.

Do you have XP or media center/vista?

I thought XP couldnt stream videos.

Try and Keep up;). XP has been streaming to the 360 for months now. And just recently DivX / Xvid are now able to be streamed.

All you need is wmp 11

Add the files you want to stream to your libary, then right click on the libary tab at the top of the screen select media shareing. select auto detect devices (or words to that effect) make sure your firewall is not blocking any of the right stuff and your away to go.

If you have problems with the 360 not finding your PC, a little bit of tinkering can be needed. A few services needed to be enabled. But you might be okay. I tried loads of streaming progs and one must have screwed something up.

But I still find it easier not to use a third party app.

Got this working, thats for the help.

Not as easy or good as the PS3 media mind, 360 constantly buffering and stuttering. :(

go to wmp11, turn on file sharing and make sure the 360 is seen and checked

go to tversity turn on, set that up (shared folders etc etc)

go to xbox search for computers

select tversity

enjoy :p

Just a shame they can't find any x264 files and the like :( I've got a few .mkv files and they aren't supported, which is a shame as they are becoming more popular.
