Hi dudes i need a Noob Guide to hooking a 360 up to a Modem via a Router.

Its for my kid brother who has absolutely no experience at all. So keep it nice and basic please.
Firstly which is the best Router to buy. Spec/price/make.
Am aware that you need a PC for the first hook up so a Lappy will be took round.
I would really like to avoid any Hick ups and get him hooked up asap. I have been telling him about online gaming for years and he has finally going for it via the 360.
His 2 meg connection is on order. 2meg will be cool, right ?

Personally i have no experience at all with a router as i am hooked up Modem style. Which don't help things really.
So any of you 360 Dudes that want to Own my Noob kid brother post some help please.
Apparently his preffered game is PGR. Odviously i laugh at this as i am a PC Snob but don't let this put you off helping. :p Am sure once hooked up i will have a go and you can own my noob 360 batty aswell. :D
I tried the 360 in shop and thought it was Amazing. COD2 was a Blast and impressed the Hell out of me.Once they used the right cable that is  ( woot for the legitimate rolleye usage ) Was well surprised how natural the controller felt aswell even to an old Git like me. I have to Say well played MS.

Thanks in advance for any help. Lets get him hooked up and Open his eyes. Pffff Kids a. :)

Get a ADSL Modem Router all in one jobbie. Something like:

Netgear DG834 ADSL Modem/Router/Switch/Firewall (NW-016-NG)

Just plug it all in, laptop to set-up the router 1st off and away it goes! just plug the 360 into it via a normal cat5 cable. Also means you can steal his internet when your over as it's got a 4port switch build into it.

2 Meg will be more than fine.

If you find the need to forward ports for the Xbox Live service, the correct ports are: 88 UDP, 3074 UDP &3074 TCP..

Ive got the Dlink G604T wireless adsl router, just stick your username details in to set the router up for net access to the laptop, plug the cable in from the x360 and off you go.

The 360 settings themselves might need tweaking to get it up and running but it should be as easy as that - then he has the option of wireless connection via the dongle for the X360 too.

The method will be pretty much the same as any router/modem.
