Hi
I fancy a console again to kill some time and cant decide which to go for. The 360 looks good but i have never played it. The ps3 also looks good but i have had no interest in it at all. Anyone got some links to screen shots and movies ?

What is the release line-up for the ps3 on the games front and the options available ? tech specs etc as i truely know nothing about it. When will it be available if all the first batch go (which they probably will), when does the second batch turn up ? And how much will it retail for...i suppose it will force a price drop on the 360 ?
Thanks

360 - Cheaper, more games atm, can get one now.

PS3 - More Expensive, less games because it's newer, have to wait till March and might still struggle to get one.

In a years time it could be a different story as Im sure the PS3 will have some awesome games a year after launch, like the 360 does now.

Some info for you David _b

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today put an end to speculation and rumour with a press release confirming that PlayStation 3 will arrive in the PAL territories on Friday 23rd March 2007.

The highly sensitive issue of pricing was also put to rest with confirmation of a launch price of €599 for mainland Europe, £425 for UK, AU$999.95 for Australia and NZ weighing in at NZ$1199.95. This makes the UK the most expensive place to buy a PlayStation 3 in the world.

SCEE also confirmed the 20GB would not be available in PAL territories (Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia) in March, but may come along later in the year "dependent on demand".

SCEE also outlined the software launch line-up, which unsurprisingly will feature a bigger array of games that either the Japanese or US launches (well, duh!). We at PSU are sure you all have you favourites you're looking forward to, but this writer's eyes stuck on Motorstorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Virtua Fighter 5, Def Jam Icon and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.

See end of article for full list of games announced.

In order to possibly avoid the riots that dogged both the Japan and US launches, SCEE has promised one million PS3s on day one. But one million spread across over three continents doesn't sound like an awful lot to us, so we'll see...

David Reeves, President of SCEE said, "Following the hugely successful launches of PS3 in Japan and North America, we are absolutely delighted to be able to bring significant numbers of PS3 to the SCEE territories. To be able to launch with over 30 titles across every genre shows that this is our strongest launch line-up in the history of PlayStation, and is what PlayStation fans in Europe have been crying out for."

Also, Sony announced the price (in UK Pounds) for the peripherals available at launch:

SIXAXIS™ Wireless Controller - £34.99
Blu-ray Disc Remote Control - £17.99
HDMI Cable - £17.99
AV cable - £17.99
Component AV cable - £17.99
S Video cable - £12.99

The 360 is cheaper and has more titles out at present, so it's probably youre best option right now. If you're looking into making an investment in a console which will last you until the next-next gen, then consider it more carefully and look at the pro's and cons of both, but try not to hold too much up on present games catalogue as this will no doubt change over time.

As an avid Sony man, i took the plunge and bought a 360, didnt wanna pay the price for the PS3, or wait and i got bored of my PS2 pretty quickly. So id say get the Xbox 360. Great console if you love online gaming as well! :D

Same here!

I bought a 360 on launch day 'cos I didn't want to wait over a year for PS3.

Played it to death on PGR3, PDZ, RR6 and GRAW. The frickin' noise from the thing drove me mad! The external PSU was the size of a housebrick and the HD movie drive was not even available at the time!

So, having got bored with the games out then I sold it and thought I'd wait for a PS3....

Since then I've bought a Wii over xmas which, initially was great, but once the novelty wore off I never turn it on anymore (after only 3 weeks!).

Must admit I'm tempted by the 360 again, now that there's loads more games available which appeal but time will tell if I have patience enough to hang on.

360 now. I got one at the weekend. The whole PS3 stuff has annoyed the crap out of me... so I'm boycotting the bloody thing!
Really? You could never tell from some of your other posts and threads you've started! :p
