Howdy,

Ok, currently I run my 360 thru my Dell 2407 as I don't have a HDTV. Well I ordered a Wii a few days ago and to prepare for it I'm gonna buy the Samsung LE32R74BDX from ocuk - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=AV-008-SA tomorrow for Sat deliv probably. I can't run my Wii thru the Component on my 2407 cos its LANGUAGE! and don't work properly... goes VERY dark, and it's about time I got in the 21st Century and got myself a HDTV I think.

Anyway, although I will run my Wii thru the component I'm very interested in knowing whether the 360 would run better thru the VGA or the Component socket on the TV? On their highest res's on that TV, would one look better than the other? Or both the same?

I heard some people got lags when running 1080i on component with the 360?

Suppose it doesn't really matter, cos once my Wii gets here in December 2047 I will use the component for that, but for those 41 years if its better I'll use it for my 360 :)

i use vga on a samsung 32inch hd lcdtv as i find on component the picture is a little to dark.
vga seems to give more realistic colours and is a bit sharper.
if you go vga buy the official microsoft vga cable.
i tried a madcatz vga cable and found its not as good as the official lead.

Why not wait until the new year sales? It should have a price cut at some point which is the reason I'm waiting to get my Samsung LE32R74. I have no idea whether there is going to be a price cut, but from previous years there always have been some great deals around on all sorts of stuff during the sales.

When you do get your Tv though run your Xbox 360 throught the official VGA cable and the Wii through component since they seem to give the best results according to the majority of people.

Also about the resolution on the Xbox 360 just try both 720p and 1080i and see which you find better instead of listening to others.

Personally on my TV I found VGA to be washed out yet crisp and component to be more vibrant yet have more promenant jaggies depending on the game (tested using BF2:MC).

However results will vary heavily from TV to tv and person to person (subjective) So you are best off having both leads and seeing which is best for you.

That TV's rez is 1366 x 768 Resolution which you can set in the 360's dashboard if you run it through VGA, you cant if you use a component cable(limited to 720P i think).

I was going to wait, but its on a Deal of the week at the moment... so its the cheapest around and if its worth going for, its worth going for today? Still not 100% decided though, but want to make my mind up asap so I can get Sat delivery in cos I cant collect it monday.

Also I'll have my Wii one day soon, and would like to have a HDTV ready for that.

Why would it not allow 1080i with this HDTV? It support 1080i?

Also, the Samsung LE32R74BDX does have component right? Cos according to the Samsung site it does, but another site on the web says it don't (who are far more expensive that ocuk might I add)? ocuk don't mention the component.... but I assume all HDTV's have component right?

You can't use 1080i via VGA, as VGA is progressive only, meaning only 480p, 720p and 1080p is capable via VGA.

Beautiful, ill be using my VGA with it anyway, I love a bit of 1080p me!

I ordered that TV from OcUK bout 2-3 hours ago for Sat deliv :)

Yeah its a good TV. I use the same one with my xbox 360. As mentioned you can use the higher resolution in VGA but you can only set it to what the xbox dashboard allows on component.

I initially had my 360 hooked up on component with this tele but found it to be very jaggery gfx and very dark. Swapped over to VGA and after some slight fiddling with the colour on the monitor it was superb quality.

If you do use component connection on this tele (I have a friend who does and preferes it) then make sure you turn the Dynamic Dimming off on the service menu of the tele - it gives the impression the game misses frames....it isn't but the way the contrast suddenly changes confuses you lol.
