got a deal on a 360 that was too good to turn down (know a store manager who offered me one with a bashed box for peanuts) so I now have a 360 again (first one was punted on launch day).

I am only really interested in the online gaming side of things as thats pretty much what i am used to with a pc, cba with single player games..

Main question I have is are the online games only peer hosted ?

I'm used to the PC approach of central servers so everyone has decent pings / communities build up around servers & you get decent competition between clans.

Maybe I'm missing something but so far all I have found are peer hosted deathmatch type games, is that all there is to the 360 online ?

also, how the hell can you use the pad for fps games !

I am a decent fps player on the pc & just cant get used to the time it takes for the cursor to move.

Taking cod 2 as an example, the maps are identical to the PC but the online experience is basically kinda crap compared to the PC, it just seems dummed down / slower, strafing is absolutely crap on it. Is this just a case of straight ports dont suit the 360 or is this a common problem

finally, voice comms.. is there a way I can filter to only play UK/Euros.. I'f I hear "dude" one more time...

I think nearly all ive bein on have bein hosted by other people.
and dunno if u can voice filter like that but in lost planet u can voice mask which is cool ;D

There are central servers. But most of them are hosted Peer to Peer... why ? beucase it's more cost effective for the companies. It saves on bandwidth and management costs.

As for FPS games, they do take a while to get used to. You really have to fiddle about with the sensitivity to find your perfect level.

I was the same, but I honestly feel you would miss out if you just stuck to the online side of things.

As for FPS with a joypad, I will always prefer mouse and keyboard, but, at least on the 360, you ALL have to use the joypad, so even if it is harder, it is a level playing field, it's just as hard for everyone else. Believe me though, you get used to it. I got so bored of PC gaming having played competetively in the BF community for years, and the 360 is a welcome breath of fresh air. I now appreciate SP games much more, but still have great MP fun in R6: Vegas mainly atm.

As far as im aware most games are peer hosted, and you do get lag in some games. I have noticed more lag on the 360 than playing CSS, BF2 etc on the PC, but the majority of the time it is fine if you play with people who don't have red pings in games.

Thansk for the info guys, I guess I expected a bit more... whats the live charges for then if they aren't providing servers ?? surely not for friends list/demos etc ??

No idea.. I dunno might be wrong but silver is free I think you can download demos and patches on that or maybe its just gold where you can download games ect.

I too wish they had the additional option of english, american along with all the other language options. I'm sure they are decent people but just playing heavy weapon online was a chore. 4 player and one american telling everyone what and where to shoot. In a 20 minute survival game it got a bit much. Never known anyone get so excited.

Nearly everytime I've played an amercian it's been painfull, arguing amoungst themselves to a vicious degree or last time I played GOW ranked my team mate was cheating. They kept threatening to file a complaint against me unless I made him stop

I tend to leave rooms hosted by americans straight away and find another game.
