i already have a 360 and im thinking of buying a ps3, is the ps3 significantly different from the xbox 360 ? in terms of graphics, cpu speed, etc. just not sure its its worth the £300

IT's not 360 or PS3 then, it's 360 and PS3.

Yes, get a PS3, it's an excellent console that could potentially come into its own in 2008. It's not significantly different, it's practically the exact same as the Xbox360 in terms of power, but it offers Blu-Ray out of the box (and WiFi, though that won't affect your games) and free online play, which is a nice touch.

I'd say go for it.

Theres plenty of these thread around if you want to gather opinions. Basically if Blu-ray sounds like something you'd use and you like the look of the current and announced PS3 exclusives then go for it. If not, then don't.

No, they're very similar in performance. I think it's worth owning both though, had a lot of fun from my 360 over the last year and enjoying my new PS3 at the moment (although it still doesn't have enough top exclusives).

Since you have Blu Ray on your PC then there is really not much point of a PS3, PS3 is not better graphically than 360
