OK.

Basically my pc is upstairs on a wireless network and im wanting to connect my 360 through the pc, can i do this?

I think i can.

I've connected through a wired connnection (360 to pc) and so im hoping the 360 can work like that.

But going into setup it cannot find my IP.

I've got a feeling i've a WEP on my wireless network, would the 360 need to know this even though its going through my PC? If so, where do i enter the WEP in the 360 control panel (please be specific as i cannot find it)

Thanks.

Pain in the bum this as am using my tft as the 360's display, and am forever changing over input!!!!

Grrrr.

You need to run Internet Connection Sharing on the PC. A search will find a few threads about it on here.

But try this:

Go to control panel-network and internet connections-network connections

You should have Local Area Network and Wireless Internet Connection? And maybe a few others, but these are the 2 you need.

If you right click on local area network, go to advanced then click on "Allow other devices to connect to the internet through this connection" or something similar. The 360 should then be able to get on live.

Make sure you are using a crossover cable and you will need to bridge the connections.

Whats a cross over cable and where would it go?

When i go into network connections it just brings up my wireless belkin.

If i right click on that i get none of the options you describe. :(

Take a gander at this thread

A crossover cable is just the Ethernet cable that goes from the xbox 360 to the PC ethernet ports, its the one you get with the premium package.

Try making a new network to try and get the Local Area Network icon to come up if you cant fix it with that thread.

Cheers.

Yes am using that cable, ta.

Will have a look through the thread now.

Wow, heavy read, i understood none of that.

Looks like £60 if i want xbox live.

Great,

PS2's had no problems hooking up like this.

But thanks for taking the time out to try and sort this. :)

Keep trying and messing about with settings, 2 of my friends did so I saved them £60 each.

Maybe somebody else will come along and give another way of doing it. I think you can manually assign IP's and DNS's etc but that's out of my league..

EDIT- Check windows device manager to make sure your ethernet port on computer is enabled.

Got no option for that either. :(

Crap computer!
Sorry, right click on my computer, go to properties then go to Hardware, then click device manager.

You should have a network adapter called PRO/100 or something similar, maybe 10/100.See if your network adapter is enabled anyway

No dont have that either!

Just my belkin wireless. :(

Internet connection sharing will block some connections as it will apply "strict" nat rules so you can bridge your 2 network cards in xp instead, which is a better solution I am told.

1) Attach normal cat5 cable from xbox360 to PC.
2) Go into wireless TCP/IP settings, make sure that "automaticly obtain" is selected for IP address and DNS server.
3) In network connections ctrl+click on both wireless connection and LAN connection, right click and select "bridge connections"
4) Turn on xbox

Step 3 is not possible as no LAN is showing :(

looking at your motherboard you should have a

1Gb Ethernet from onboard Vitesse VSCS8201 Gigabit Ethernet PHY.

So you need to enable it either in the bios or in device manager and then you will get another icon in network connections.

Its not showing in either bios or DM.

Have you formatted and forgot to install the drivers?

Erm, maybe :D

I know i missed some drivers when i built the computer (found out about it later) something to do with putting them on a floppy etc...but i dont have a floppy drive anyway. (think it was for SATAII though)

Anyway around it?

PS: If this this the case can i not just buy a PCI Network Card (About £5) and use that?

Or am i buggered?
