360 Preview dash - Background downloading busted?

I think that the background (while switched off) downloading function is borked in the preview dashboard.

I set GTAIV TBoGT to download over night on Thursday and turned the 360 off as normal.

Come Friday when I turned it back on, the download had only reached 5% (must have downloaded that before I turned the 360 off).

I did have the same problem a few nights earlier on a few smaller videos that I had set to download from the game marketplace. Again, turned the 360 off after adding them to the download list, turned back on the next day and that hadn't finished.

Working fine here, downloaded TBOGT using it.

Possibly a problem with the cache on your HDD, or a network problem?

When you say "turned the 360 off...", is it actually going into the low power mode, or actually turning completely off?

I'm confused, can the 360 download stuff when actually turned off? if so when did that appear as a feature?

Background downloading is when you set a download going, turn the 360 "off" (although it actually goes into a low-power mode with fans still going) then turns off completely once the download has finished.

Been a feature for ages.

Yeah good point, I assumed he meant it has been working fine but after the Dash update stopped.

It almost sounds like he never used it before and hasn't enabled it, and just expects it to keep downloading when the console it literally off?

It was going into low power mode.

To clear things up a little I do mean the low power mode (though this is actually referred to as 'background downloads' under the system settings).

I've always had this option enabled since it was introduced and have never turned it off.

I tried another download earlier (arcade game) and this time round it appears to have actually completely downloaded while in low power. I guess the first two times it went wrong were nothing related to the preview dashboard and maybe a LIVE! glitch.

Just something else that's a possibility, I've noticed that should your network or broadband connection drop even for a second, the Xbox will shut off. If you're line is rock solid then obviously this won't be a reason at all, but it's a possiblity.

That would explain my problems then as my connection likes to reset itself over night :/

No problems with our connection over the last few days.

Either way it seems that it may just have been a glitch with extra demand on the servers when I was downloading TBoGT that caused the download to hang at 5%.
