360 profiles and 2 xboxes...

My friend hasnt got xbox live at home, not even got an internet connection.

So he brought his hard drive to mine, plugged it into my 360 and we downloaded the updates, This is also the first time he's connected to live, so we created an account too. We took his existing offline account online.

Now he's got home, plugged the hard drive back into his console.

And there are problems, His kinect says it needs an update, even though it didnt before. Bringing the hard drive back to mine along with kinect, and both work without the update?

His avatar, isnt showing up as it was before.

Now I did forget that a lot of things are licensed to a 360 in question, in downloading the updates, etc using my 360 has licensing somehow fubared things?

We also used my console to download some DLC for alan wake. Using a code with the game for the signal.

I imagine that will also be connected to the 360 rather than the profile\HDD?

I would think he would need to bring his console to do any updates and not just the hard drive.

DLC is connected to the console it was first downloaded on (available for any profile) and the profile used to download it.

Yeah I'll get him to fetch his console up, there may be a solution in that somewhere lol.

I know there's a digital rights management thingy that allows you to transfer licensing. So I'll just have to have a fiddle about.
