360 Red light and error message

Hi all
sorry if these details are a bit sketchy, I haven’t seen it first hand.
My mate has an xbox 360. suddenly a fault has appeared.
When he turns it on it starts up but after a bit the circle around the power button turns red and an error message appears.Is there a fix for this. Has it happened to anyone? It’s still under warranty, he bought it from game this year.

If his video connection wasn't connected he wouldn't be getting an error message.

He should just take it back to GAME. It's a 5 minute switch over. Though, he will lose his HDD saves (if it's a premium).

i think it may be red all the way
so there is no way to save the hdd info, he had like 150 albums on there that he worshipped
could he swap the hdd onto the new one?

so i went to GAME with my mate. they looked at the receipt to make sure it was ok and that was it, they handed over a brand spanking new xbox. we were in there 5mins tops. it's the way it should be
