in may i got an xbox 360 from a web site. its done a couple of odd things since i got it (ruined oblivion4 disc and shot it across my bedroom floor, scratched various dvds etc) so i decided to call the site i bought it from. they said yes no problem, you can have a full refund, we dont stock them anymore so if you want a repair you will have to send it back to microsoft.

so what should i do? they will give me my £150 back or i can contact microsoft to organise things regarding a replacement. can i get better for my money than sending it back? would they give me one of the newer consoles?? help is needed! thanks.

hey, thanks for your replys. so if i get a refund where can i get another one for about the same price?? i know you cant say the exact name but any hints would be helpfull! i've tried googling it but cant really find any good deals so far. there are quite a few elite deals but i dont want to spend that much money.

would that happen to be from Boots? similar thing happend to me I got the dreaded ring of red lights so phoned them up and got refund no problem, then bought another elsewhere

yeah it is from there. i've not had the ring of death yet but i'm sure its on its way.

i really dont want to spend £200 on an arcade, i've already got forza2 anyway. i want one that works as it was intended for the price i paid!!! Is there any chance microsoft will give me one of the newer ones in exchange for mine? from what i've heard they're pretty upfront about replaceing these dodgy ones??

Get a local repair firm to replace the drive, quick job shouldnt cost more than £60, thats what we do it for.

tbh i'd rather sell my left testicle than spend £60 on fixing something i purchased new less than a year ago. plus it would probably void my warranty, plus if i really wanted to i could get it fixed for free from ms (albeit a shoddy job).

heres the thing- i want a new oblivion4 disc (because it raped my last one), i want a working xb360 which wont attempt to decapitate me with an ejected spinning disc, and I want a disc drive which dosnt sound like a boeing 777 is about to land short of the runway into my back yard. Now what can I do to achieve these aims???? Please!!!!!!

hey, yeah i kind of new there were issues with some of these units but i was led to believe they'd sorted them all out ages before i purchased mine. Plus you cant just say 'dont buy things that have known issues' if that were true then vauxhall would never sell another car! think i'm going to contact ms and see what they say.
