Right, I have tried everything I can think of, PC has a static IP, set a static on my 360. I have ports forwarded on my router for my 360 but still they seem to refuse to see each other. Anyone have any ideas?

Should add Windows live works fine and I am trying to use WMPC.

you trying the stream music from the pc to the 360 via cable jobbie?

I had ENDLESS problems 3 years ago getting that to work

All I can suggest is knock off all firewalls, install media player latest version, choose the files you want to share and then hopefully voila

Can you ping the xbox's static address from your PC? At least you then know if a connection can be had, or if the firewall is blocking it.

not sure if this is related to media sharing or actually being able to see each other but have you checked to see if the windows media network sharing service is running. this should be part of WMP11 but it used to be windows media connect before it was integrated into WMP.

Yeah, as cokecan72 said, you need to have media sharing in Windows Media Player turned on. If you click the little arrow under the library tab, it's there. Make sure that when you're configuring it that you let the Xbox see all rated files, not just two stars or more. I couldn't figure out why my Xbox could see my PC, but no files, and that was why. :p

Right, I can ping my 360, sharing is turned on but still no luck, the PC can't see the 360 and still the 360 fails at connecting to the computer. Any other ideas? :(

I was having the same problem untill my 360 gave up, even with firewalls turned off (router + zonealarm) I got squat.

XP or Vista?

I had so many problems with XP that I decided it wasn't worth bothering with. They wouldn't talk at all over WiFi and over ethernet my Xbox wouldn't play half of my mp3s. Strangely, everything Just Works with Vista though.

something you could try....put either your PC or 360 in the DMZ of your router and see if either can see the other. that way it would rule out something in the router that could be causing this
