I currently have a wireless adaptor for my 360 but have been getting some serious lag issues so thought id give wired a shot again... but when i connect up the cable 2 the router i dont get anything. the 360 isnt picking up the router and the router does not pick up the 360. its not being detected at all.

I have tried the cable with my ps3 and pc to eliminate cable problems, and both the console and pc are detected by the router, getting ip address/connection no problems at all. I took the 360 over to a mates just to check if the ethernet port was dead, but it worked fine :S.

So my initial thoughts were maybe the router is blocking the 360, but the router should atleast pick up the 360 and show that its picking it up by highlighting one of the port numbers on my router (1-4), but its not even doing that, but does so for the PS3 and PC.

So im stuck as what to do next. Just wondered whether you guys had any ideas please?

Ta folks :)

You're not using a crossover cable are you?

Have you tried plugging the modem directly in and specifying the correct settings within the xbox? Are there any other cables you can try? Your router hasn't got the xbox on it's list of blocked devices has it?

couple of things to check, it's a bit of a weird one that and I'm by no means an expert, or pretend to be!

Nope, its the ethernet cable that came with the console... tried a direct connection to my modem too and still no luck which is even weirder :S. Tried entering a static IP too, but with no luck on that either.

Well i feel a tad silly now lol... i tried another cable and it works :S. Its a bit odd as the PC and PS3 get connection with the other cable :S... wonder why the xbox doesnt :S?

ta for the help dude!

No worries Matt, when I read the top line on your most recent post, I thought... well it has to be the cable if a direct connection doesn't work.......

Good to hear you've got it sorted, mods care to close this please? :)
