guys,

i am having a large TV installed and the plan is to have one SCART cable that comes from the TV into a DVD player. SKY plus then gets plugged into the DVD player and it all works through the one connection to the TV.

woudl it be possible for me to plug my xbox into the DVD player and still see the pictures through the TV? if so what kind of loss of picture quality woudl i get? as opposed to plugging it directly to the TV scart sockets?

cheers.

Well if it's a HDTV, you wont be using the SCART cable, you'd be using either component or VGA for the 360, and if you have Sky HD, you'd probably be using HDMI.

um i am lost...

sorry for being a newb. are you talking about the different connections required for HDTV? would a new DVD player support these kind of connections? if so coudl i connect (or switch) Sky and the xbox around when required and get an HD output?

not sure which TV its going to be yet, but i am hoping it will be HD.

the problem is, the way its going to be installed i dont know if i will have access to the connectors at the back. it might be hard wired as it were. so i want to try and get it set up so that i can use HD with my 360 or sky if and when i get it.

Well if it's a HDTV, it'll certainly have a HDMI port, and most likely, either a Component or a VGA connection, dependin on how much the TV is worth anyway. If you have Sky+ HD, then you can connect that into the HDMI port, the 360 into the Component/VGA connection, and the DVD player in a normal SCART connection. Or, scrap the DVD player and just use the 360.

ahh nice one. getting clearer now.

thanks mate
