360 Slim "Grinding"?!

Hey guys got my new 360 slim a couple of weeks ago and it makes a god aweful noise when playing a game if it's not installed on the HDD! It's a horrible grindy-buzzing noise and im pretty sure it's not supposed to as my old 360 never did

Well i have a 360 slim 250GB and ive never heard any grinding noise, go exchange it for a newer model m8.

Heya,
Just bought a 360 slim 250gb and it had the exact same issue you say, on booting up it would grind for about 10 minutes then settle down.
It also cut out on me on Saturday night, only the once mind.

I took it back and they tested it saying that it should not really be doing that, so if I were you to be safe then take it back.

Sounds like an issue with the optical drive. Shouldn't be doing it, but then you should be installing games anyway.

Any luck on returning this?
My replacement is putting out less than half the noise of the broken one.
