360 Spares!

Hi guys around 5 minutes ago my launch day Xbox 360 suddenly died unexpectedly! I have a spare one so im taking this one to pieces to experiment! Is there any bits i could keep handy incase of another hardware failure?

You could easily sell the dvd drive as they have a habit of dying out of warranty (1yr)

How did it die? If it red ringed and you are taking it apart, there's a chance you could fix it yourself. Plenty of guides around.

Everything in the 360 is salvageable or resellable in some way, right down to the trim pieces, case or PSU.

I have it stripped now, im gonna try and salvage the CPU and DVD drive!

if it's red ringed i would have sent it back to MS for repair!

The CPU? Be a bit hard unless your soldering skills are on par with a machine

I would try replacing the thermal paste and see if it cures it.
