Hey guys my mate has a 360 and is thinking of buying a 19" tft widescreen,

Acer AL1916W 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor

or

Viewsonic VA1912W 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Now will this be ok to use with the 360 i dont know much about console resolution etc so dont know if it will scale up/down and make his 360 look crap? His price range is around £200

The Xbox 360 doesn't support the native res of either monitor, so the monitor will do a little upscaling. Basically you could run the screen at 720p (1280x720), and the quality will be very good. Most 32" widescreen TVs will be upscaling (or downscaling) anyway.

You'll need a VGA cable.

Not really, no. Its not a paticularly large screen though. Some games don't like the VGA cable (only original Xbox games though fortunately). Don't worry about people saying games like Kong / PGR3 are distorted with VGA at 1280x1024, you'll be running at standard 720p so they'll all be fine.
 
Yes I run the dell 2405 and it still looks great, certainly as good as the samsung screen all the xboxes are demo'd on in the game stores.
