Hey guys...being greeted with this wonderful message on my 360...
---
This disc is unreadable.
1. Clean the disc with a soft cloth.
2. Restart the console.

This is the 4th time I've seen it appear now, since getting this 2nd 360 on the 13th of this month.
What happens, is I'll hear the disc spin down to a slower speed for a few seconds, then spin right down, followed by a couple of clicks, which sounds like the laser lens moving up and down trying to focus on the disc. I was playing TDU, and when this happened, bits of the map stopped appearing, then I fell into the road, followed by the disc unreadable message popping up on the screen. Another time it happened while playing Burnout, was restarting the event over and over trying to get Gold/Perfect, and I heard the dreaded drive slow down...what peeved me the other day, was it didn't recognise a disc was in the drive when I powered it on. It never span up fully, just did a light spin, while the bottom of the dash reported 'Open Tray' as if there was no disc.
When it happens mid game, I get kicked to the dash. Attempts to re-play by pressing 'play game' result in some quiet drive noise, followed by the disc unreadable error. Tried a few times, same error. Left the console alone for a bit (didnt power off or eject), then pressed play game, and it fired up fine! Though ejecting/closing, or power cycling works too.
This is my 2nd 360 console, both of which have had the same issues.
Mfr dates were 1st: 2006-08-05 2nd: 2006-08-06, but were taken from different stores, though from the same chain. I'm guessing from the dates, and the similar issues, that there was probably a bad batch of consoles over a few days or something.
Manager agreed to replace the console if I come across any issues, though I don't know whether to just do it now, or wait for the newer 360's running on the smaller chip when they finally start making it next year.
There are about 8 premiums in stock at the store, with mfr dates ranging from 2006-04 to 2006-08.
What do you guys think, shall I just go get it replaced? Do any of you have 360's made around 2006-04 to 08 and have zero issues? Not one disc unreadable / red lights / freezes etc etc. I'm going to lose faith! Good thing too, what with all these new accessories and games on the way...
Any advice much appreciated guys
