360 Update Tomorrow :O

I got the update without issue, and even managed to get the media sharing working, over wireless as well. Good stuff, but it took a lot of effort on the PC side. I can see why they are touting it as a big feature in Vista.

I tried the version of WMP11 in Vista BETA, and it was awful. Couldn't get it working properly at all.

Installed the proper copy of WMP11 yesterday on XP and got pictures, music and video working straight away, no fuss :)

Yeah i managed to stream a few .wmv's across to the 360 via Windows Media Connect. Quite a nice addition to be able to stream video without a media edition of XP.

When mine updated it switched to 1080p automatically, which freaked me out for a bit as my LCD can't display that res, so the screen was blank.

Thought it had borked, waited a few seconds and it went back to the usual res.

Just switched over to my widescreen monitor and Im dissapointed with how it looks, everything seems to have more jaggies, I've got it set to 1360x768 (native res of the monitor is 1680x1050) and I'm really dissapointed with how it looks compared to my 19" non widescreen a 1280x1024. I'm guessings its like this due to using a non native res

Really hope they add support for 1680x1050 in the next update or soon, as its a pretty common res for 20-22" monitors

Seriously, how ******* difficult can it be to find a decent WMV converter, it's an absolute JOKE!

Edit: Guess WinAVI it is =[.

Wouldn't VirtualDub work for that?

You using the Dell? If you are, can you try something for me? Try using 1280x720 and let me know how it looks. On mine, the colours are completely washed out. its like somebody has ramped up the gamma.

I am using a Dell 2007FPW @ 1366x768. It looks pretty much the same as it before the update to me :/

Before this update, were you able to stream .wmv files from a PC using just Media Connect? I'd be absolutely peeved off if I specifically purchased Windows MCE pre-update.

Thats what I did.. But I get the better of both worlds becasue I can stream .ts files and lots more.. The update, you can only stream WMV files.

I bought the 360 VGA cable to enable 1080p display. Not worth bothering with! There is no discernable difference between 1080p and 720p on my Dell 2405FPW except the brightness/contrast look cack using VGA. The component has a nice deep black and vivid colours. Think I will switch back!

Ditto with my bravia - went back to 1080i component, which looks excellent, rather than 1080p over vga which looked washed out, was a bit gutted, as it would have freed up my component port for the wii too.

Ah, yes. Just switched back to component - the colours look fantastic! Lord knows what MS (or Dell) have done with the VGA bit. Can't determine whether it's the console or the monitor. Stupid cable will have to go on eBay now as I destroyed the packaging to get to the cable! :(

Im back to Component as well, and i actually thought they may have tweaked the VGA but as soon as i booted the component up it was like my eyes being reborn again :)

Back at 1080i and like the others have said, apart from the washed out screen there is no disernable difference on this 2405
