Mooching... in your house
i'm considering getting a 360 in addition to my ps3 - just kinda fancy a go on a few of the exclusives such as gears...

so i'm looking at the differences between the arcade and the elite... and the differences dont seem worth having for example the hard drive, do the games need to install like on a ps3? if not does it really matter? (not bothered with storing movies and stuff as I would just stream them if necessary)

other than that - headset? not really bothered, hdmi cable? easy to get... so all in all is it worth the extra for some other reason when the arcade will play the games perfectly well? are they maybe a later, quieter model (although i doubt this since theres no hdd)

what you reckon?

You don't need the Elite, get the 60gb Premium. The main thing I love about the premium, isn't just the hard drive but the wireless controllers. Could never go back to wired.

Definately worth paying that little more for these accessories, you will regret it if you don't.

Elite is worth it if your going to install games to your hard drive as they're about 6gb a pop.

Go for the arcade. only difference these days is the HDD and the elite being black.

256mb memory card will be needed, the new xbox interface is 128mb. but you get a 256mb card with the arcade anyway and gamesaves dont take up that much space. about 1mb/2mb each.

you get a wireless controller with the arcade. it also comes with HDMI.

Surely in the long run this is bad advice?

What about download demo's? He wouldn't be able ti fit one on, it's great being able to try before you buy

Get a Premium, Arcade isn't worth it as you will probably end up buying a headset and the hard drive later down the line which will surpass the extra cost of a Premium.

i think an arcade and extras pretty much adss up to the same as the elite doesnt it? in which case the premium may well not be the best value, depending on how many games and downloads you intend to keep on your hard drive

Get a Premium. A HDD is really something you should have for the New Xbox Experience (coming to a console near you on Wednesday 19th November!)

well its only an extra 30 or 40 quid dude. With the NXE you'll be able to install games to the HDD so thank god this should reduce disc spinning/noise etc.

Because believe me it is noisy - the ps3 is quiet as a kitten - the 360 is like a little terrier yapping all the time - always demanding attention.

not really. from what i gathered from his post he doesnt really care about downloadable content.

the arcade does exactly the same thing the premium or elite does, it just doesn't have a hard drive. the games dont need to be installed the HD.

360 Premium tbh. I have always thought the Arcade is bad value. If you look around and get accessories cheap, maybe it works out the same price as a Premium bundle, but easiest is to just buy the Premium. If you find you don;t need/use the HDD, you can sell it and get a 512MB Memory card instead.
