I have the new Samsung 40' 1080p HD tele and was told to use the 1080p mode i need VGA or HDMI.

Obviously the 360 doesnt have HDMI yet so i will use the VGA cable.

Is this statement true?

I can run 1080i through component but get a small amount of Jagged Edges.

If i run in 1080p the image is distorted and in a nutshell..... CRAP!

So before i waste money on a new cable... a friend of mine who works for a video game store told me to buy a VGA Cable to improve the picture quality over 1080i and 1080p.

Can anybody clarify this?

Good question...I am about to have the same problem...off to buy a 360 tomorrow and would like to know the same, I have a 1080p TV so should I be using a VGA cable??

According to this blog you do need a VGA cable to get the best out of 1080p. Although it does seem to say that games are fine at 1080p over component, just not DVDs or HD-DVDs

You can run 1080p over VGA - But I'm not sure about your model of Tv - Its its the new 40" one some have been hit and miss being able to display it properly

Well as component does 1080p well ill probably stick with that...

Not fussed about DVD as I have a seperate player for that!!

Thanks for your help

I'd recommend getting the Official MS VGA cable, most of the cheaper 3rd party ones lack proper cable shielding which can cause noise on the image especially if you have it near a computer like I do.

Also stay clear of the bay for buying official 360 accessories unless your certain it is not fake. Most of the play & charge and video cables look like they are in identical packaging to the official ones but they are clearly fake.
