basically i want to have my 360 plugged in to my tv and my monitor at the same time.

want it to be displayed on my monitor when my gf is home so she can watch tv but want to be able to switch it to my tv when friends come round etc.

so how would i go about this?

tv and monitor are about 3 meters apart.

i did consider buying an extra xbox vga cable and just swapping them over at the xbox end but is there a switch or something i can get were i can just flick a switch?

I don't know of any switch that would do it, and i dont imagine it would be cheap if there was (but I could be wrong) - I would opt for a 2nd VGA cable - it's only switching it over at the back - I prefer to play on the monitor sometimes and just swap the box over - takes all of a minute!

Single device would be tricky but you could get a vga switch box and a stereo switch box and use them together, two buttons instead of one but it would work. There are quite a few kvm switches with audio but they tend to be 2->1 unidirectional for sharing a monitor.

I don't need to switch audio, I use my z5500s and there positioned fine for what I would play on the TV so it would be purely video that needs switching.

ive just found this VGA switch which seems to do what i want.

before i buy can people confirm this will do what i want it to do :)

It won't work for the resolutions used on the 360. You need an electronic switch/KVM to stop signal degradation.

I just have a VGA lead in the back of the TV and one in the back of a monitor with a double female extender on the end, simply plug the output from the VGA on the xbox into your desired port :)

got it sorted with an £8 swith of amazon and 2 £2 vga cables :) no drop in quality or ghosting or anything :)

sorted for £12 delivered.
