Oh and would Left 4 Dead be worth it if I don't play online

And can I return a game to a highstreet store without the receipt, its a pc game, still sealed in the plastic

Im not sure thats possible which store you talk of. You will most certainly need a receipt.

Given the current climate on the highstreet I very much doubt it. At the best of times returning PC games was always far more of a pain than it should be.

Nope. You can play it single player but you'd just be going through 4 scenarios on your lonesome (or maybe 2 player with splitscreen). Online's the way to go with this game.
