360 Wireless Controller with PC

Hi - Does anyone know if it is possible to use a wireless 360 controller with a PC via the USB Play & Charge cable?

I plugged it in and Vista has recognised it to some capacity, but it does not appear in the Game Controllers section of Control Panel.

you need the wireless receiver to use it on pc.

I've tried that, but all it did was charge the controller. Oh well

The play and charge cable carries no data, so while you can charge from a pc you'll need the wireless reciever to play with it as said.
