I bought a Microsoft wireless receiver so I could use my wireless 360 pad on my pc. I got this thing working and tried it on Crysis warhead and it worked fine. I had to uninstalled the software as I thought it was cuasing a problem with my wireless mouse but it wasn't. When I first installed it the light on the receiver went on and worked. Now when I try and re-install it, nothing happens. The light won't go on at all.

Any idea as to whats wrong with it?

although this doesn't help your problem at all

why the hell are you trying to play an fps without a mouse?

I have exactly the same problem and not had a chance to try and resolve it. Working fine one day with grid, next day the 360 controller wont sync to the pc, light never comes on even when the connect button is pressed and the one on the controller is pressed. Battery is fine, works ok on the 360.

Are you using the same USB port? Perhaps try another one? Some users have reported intermittent connectivity / success when using the Microsoft Wireless Receiver. One possible explanation is that the USB ports on a PC / Laptop sometimes do not provide enough power to the device in question. I had this problem last night whilst setting up a wireless device for Vista64. My wireless device did not like being plugged into the front USB ports. I had to plug it into a rear USB port in the end and now my wireless device is working.

The software / driver was obviously working before so I doubt you need to download any updates.

I tried plugging the device into all the ports and even tried it on my laptop(xp pro) and still nothing. The light just wont go on. So frustrating as it worked fine the first time.

until Vista service pack 1 was released i had tons of trouble with USB ports, its obvious but is your OS fully upto date ?

do you have other USB devices that do work to test ? and maybe just re-install all the xbox360 drivers/software and reboot

im on vista 64bit and its all working fine here ... gluck

**maybe the controller is broke??**

Vista is up to date and all other usb devices work. I've tried re-installed the software and rebooting but nothing happens. :(

Controller works fine. The problem I am having is the receiver won't go on(the light).

Had this issue before on XP32. There seems to be a bug with the USB devices when they are removed so many time with this device. Only way I could get it to work again was a reinstall Windows. Sledgehammer to crack a nut I know but got fed up trawling the registry looking for entries to remove relating to this USB device.

Had nothing but trouble with my receiver. It used so much power I had to unplug every other usb device in order to get it to sync with the pad. Dunno if it was a driver issue or hardware but gave up in the end - flogged it and bought a wired 360 pad.

after having a quick read on google about it

it seems to draw a lot of power..

try removing all other usb devices and plugging it in.. people suggest using a powered usb hub (or rear usb ports)

It wouldnt even function with my powered hub (even with nothing else plugged into it). Actually it was some naff Advent hub but still.....you would expect it to work. The Annoying thing is it worked fine in my sisters cack old system.

I'm sure some driver fix would sort it but oh well....Out of my hands.

If you've tried it on a laptop too and it's still not working it sounds like the reciever itself is borked, dodgy cable or something.

Give MS a ring, they're pretty good about replacements.
