Ive got my PC linked to the 360 downstairs so I can watch all the movies I have. I know the 360 supports .mp4 as there was an update for it, and when I put one of my .mp4 episodes on my USB stick the 360 detects and plays it fine.

The problem is when I go into the video tab on the 360 or Windows Media Centre. It just dosent detect the .mp4 video at all...Ive got everything set up to share to the 360 and I think its all in the right place on my PC.

Anyone know where im going wrong?

Thanks

Si

AFAIK you have to use some other software (e.g Tversity etc) for you to be able to stream an mp4 across. I personally could not get along with it so I (like yourself) either put in on a usb flash drive or burn it on the dvd to watch it.

With an update from Marketplace it plays files with a .mp4 container no problem.

Does the 360 see other files in the same directory as the .mp4? Sounds like there is still some sort of sharing issue, as I know I can stream them no problem from Vista.

WMC does not recognise MP4 containers by default. It's supposedly fixed by creating a new entry in the registry for MP4 but I could never get it to work. I just plug my USB HDD into the 360 and play stuff that way.

Is there any sort of folder options you have to use when buring the mp4 to DVD?

i.e - THE DVD/movies/***.mp4

Or do you just burn it straight to the DVD?

Also what program should I use to burn it? If a program like Nero, what catorgery should it fall under? (Data, S-DVD etc)
