Just been trying to watch some films through my 360/tv but for some reason the 360 wont recognise the external hd. It's a Seagate barracuda in some unbranded case which has ports on the back for power and usb. When its connected to the front and turned on, the portable device bit in videos is still greyed out..

Does it only work with those small, self powered type drives?

Cheers

Is it formated in FAT32? MS in their infinate wisdom dont allow you to use NTFS drives

Yeah its NTFS. If I were to backup everything off the hd then format as FAT32, should that sort it out?

If there are any files on the drive that is larger than 4Gb they will not transfer back, that is the difference betwen FAT32 and NTFS, FAT32 can only support up to 4Gb files sizes, whereas NTFS can support much larger files.

bugger, wont let me format in FAT32 for some reason, theres no option for it. Theres some other type of FAT but I guess that wont work?
