£169 with a game and the hard drive is by far the better value. If you want to use the 360 for anything bar basic game playing, you would need the hard drive anyway.
 
It's only worth buying if the games available for it interest you. Start there, then make your mind up :)

Well, if he is getting it from where I think he is getting it, it's the same price with or without a game, so he'd still be better off getting a game even if it a game he doesn't like :)

p.s. get the one with Battlefield Bad Company ;) prob the best out of the games (unless you like golf) :p
 
Even if you get a game you don't like, if it still retails at £39.99 normally you could sling it on various market places and earn £20 or something.
 
£129 for arcade then pay £50 for the 120gb hard drive.

Also thinking about getting a 360 so might as well jump in this thread.

How noisy are they? Would the noise be disruptive to in game noise or if the machine is well ventilated are they actually pretty quiet? Just wondering as I've read some reports that they're v.noisy however am thinking this is people exagerating?

I guarantee you they are not exagerating. You wont really notice it mid game or whatever though. I now have headphones so its less of an issue but its still a joke IMO.

They are loud! :(

I hear it quite a bit when watching DVD / HD-DVD, during quiet parts of the movie, however during games etc, it doesn't really bother me! :p
 
Mine isn't that loud (new elite, got about 6 weeks ago) it's the awful chunttering of the CD drive that has me feeling nervious, just expecting the thing to break. My old ones were the same.
