Given the billy bargain pricing of amd chips it seems a no brainer to get a cheeky upgrade for my
Mitx rig

Currently run

X570 mitx board
3600
5700 gpu
32gb ram

Mainly gaming anno 1800 atm I’ll be honest don’t need. An upgrade as the machine does everything I need but there’s definitely an itch for some new hardware and it seems silly not to drop a few hundred to get a decent bit of a gain

What’s the thoughts on going either 5800 3d or 5900x

5800X3D hands down.

1440p but will go 4k once the new gpus come out
Today @Dirk Diggler was in a simmlar postion in his thread and went for a 5900x.

There isn't really a wrong choice but at £340 the 5900x is a winner imo.

just a quick update,
went with the 5900x should be here tommorow
added a Noctua NH-U12A to keep it in check and a pair of Noctua NF Redux 120mm for the bottom of my case (Inwin A1) to add a bit of airflow.

will flash the bios on my 5700 at the same time to an XT one and change the power limits up a bit so should be a very nice bump all round ;)

No point recommending the X3D. So many people ask about X3D vs 5900X… in the end they go for the 5900X (prices are great at the moment).

You should have gone with the 5900X.

arrived today and after lots of swearing theres now a 5900 and a Noctua NHU in my inwin a1
big drop in cpu temps - 20c improvement at idle which is fantastic to see and dare i say it even just basic use feels "snappier"
