Hi Guys

I'm finally looking to get an HDTV with a screen size of at least 37". At this size, are there any advantages of going for either an LCD or Plasma?

PS. Sorry if this has been covered before - I had a quick search of the forums, but couldn't see anything difinitive.

LCD, I doubt you can get a HD Ready Plasma for the same kinda price.

Plasma = better for SD material
LCD = better for HD material / HTPC etc

Cheers Lanz.

I'm looking at buying online @ around the £1k mark. So far the Panasonic TX32LXD60 seems a reasonable choice - I'm now looking at 32" because I only sit about 7 or 8 feet away from the screen & possibly 37" may be a bit big? (even though I've currently got a 36" widescreen CRT).

6 or 7 feet away from a 37inch using SD stuff like freeview you'd see a lot of compression. DVDs stuff would probably be ok, depending on your DVD player.

If your thinking of getting SkyHD, then maybe get a 37inch. Bigger the better with 720p/1080i stuff.

Ha, was just about to post such a Q!
