3700+DS to 4800+x2?

Hi all

right, i've got my 3700+sd to 2.6Ghz on my comp. 2GB Ram & an 1800xt and an ASROCK DUAL (PCI-X&AGP).

I've been toying with the idea of just spending £100-£140 on a 4800+X2... I mainly play CSS and want to get Supreme Commander & Quake Wars. I've heard supcom loves dual cores, and I want CSS to run a lil smoother.

What do you think to CSS performance? just getting this X2 will be a simple upgrade, in the future i'll be going conro or better with a full upgrade, but i cba with changing RAM and motherboard, i just want a quick fix.

I have a mate who ordered one from a competitor and it cost him around £200.

Roughly what kind of gains can i expect from games like CSS? does dual core help, even with single core games?. I'll probably push the X2 a little with overclocking anyway, just want to know if the upgrade will actually be worth it.
 
can we stay on topic please folks, i kust want to get some views from other people if they have taken a similar plunge or not
