Hey guys just thought tell every one that i put a 3700+ instead of Core2duo.

I was gonna upgrade and core2duo was the one i wanted but just couldnt afford it, so checked around and found some buyers for my current cpu/mobo/gfx card.

I wanted a upgrade on the cheap so i bought a (new) retail 3700 1mb cache for £59 inc del, geforce 6800 Ultra PCI-E £60 inc del and A8N SLI Premium £40 in del.

Now its up and running with a 19" LCD Monitor (using VGA cable (NO DVI Provided) )

While formattin SATA HDD it messed up and wouldnt install windows, after 4 hours testing parts i found out it was the HDD so, got a spare IDE and installed windows then connected the SATA HDD and formated it now SORTED! LOL

Spec

3700+ (at stock)
A8N SLI Premium
DDR400 2x512 Kingston
6800 Ultra PCI-E
120Gb SATA HDD|250 SATA2 HDD
120GB IDE
DVDrom|CDRW|NEC 3520.

Happy with CPU for now

got res 1280x1024 doesnt look smooth as my old CRT is it cos i aint using DVI?

700:1 contrast ratio
8ms response time

aslo need to know if i connect 2 seperate molex to PCI-E 6pin adaptor?
and do i plug a molex into asus ez plug if i'm only using 1 gfx card?

thanks

Hi Ronaldo

When I was using that MB I used to plug in the extra molex into asus ez socket on the MB.

I just picked up the Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe for £60 which I going to use with retail 3700+ I just brought

I think you do need to use to 2 seperate molex lines to PCI-E 6pin adaptor

Ok, one of the molex (prolly ez plug) will have to be shared with case fans.

Simon D, nice one me and u been bumping into each other for these few weeks, both interested in same parts LOL. I hope u dont face the same problem i did when i tried installing windows LOL

ok i got another problem, was search for a DVI cable on a site which listed few, i clicked like 6 items 1 after another and for like 5 sec the i couldnt switch by clicking on, it was like it was ready (like u have on a low spec'd pc)

Is this a ram issue? i did get this b4 (was using same ram, psu, hdds.)

Hi Ronaldo,

What was your problem when you tried to installing windows?

Molex ez plug should be OK to share with case fans, that what I did when I had that MB.

When I was using that MB I was running with my X2 4400+, as I had two core did not see a slowdown when opening programs. I also using 2Gb of ram as well at the time.

i finished setting everything up and was formatting NTFS full and after 60% it just fooked up, i had to hard restart and then the windows cd wouldnt load with that hdd connected but that was the only 120GB hdd i had for windows, the other 2 had stuff on them.

so took a 30GB out of old pc and installed windows then connected the 120Gb hdd and formated in windows then it worked.

I would say that is a ram issue.

I have seen that before, I had to load windows with one stick, once loaded replaced the second stick and the machine was fine.

By the way what is your size of your PSU (watts)

This is what you should have got:

-Not the 6800 ultra but 7600gt for around a tenner more

-Not that Asus A8N-SLi for 40 but the DFI 939 crossfire one for 35 new. It has a much better BIOS than the Asus and HD audio :)

nice mate, let me know how u get on.

also just wondering do amd 64 need to be sync 1:1 to get most out of it?

wondering cos of hyper transport

I use my X2 4400 at 1:1 as I am using PC4000, I need to buy another PSU to run my 3700+

What I understand you do not need to do so from the O/C guides

No, cpu speed over all else followed by latencies
