hi all,
until today my pc was working fine overclocked to 2.8ghz using the south bridge to north bridge overclock thing on my asus a8n32 sli, i booted up windows and notice in the properties of my computer it said it was 2.0ghz so i restarted went into the bios reset everything and tried again, same thing happend so i used the asus AI overclocking feature in the bios that seems to be displaying my CPU is at 2.8ghz but when i restarted to save the changes in the bios it showed it was 2.0ghz, so i went into windows and it says 2.8 on CPUZ only can anyone help me with this problem? is my CPU borked?

Tried downclocking it a bit? What cooling do you have in your case? Have you moved your case to a warmer/enclosed area?

yeah treid downcloking, havent moved my case and my case cooling has to be the best around(3x80mm intakes)(1x80mm circulating)(3x120mm exhuasts)(1x120mm intake)

thanks for the reply but my bios does not display my cpu speed as overcloked it displays it as 2.0ghz which is weird as this is below stock but if i overclock in a differebnt way using an asus tool in the bios it says the cpu frequency is 280 but when i restart it says in the satrt up its still 2.0ghz although cpuz says 2.8 and i have noticed a slight temp rise so i dont know which colck speed is coorect 2.0ghz or 2.8ghz

I got a Asus Mobo, I couldnt figure it out on the Nothbrodge or Southbrige for i did it on the FSB - located in Jumper free config, set the option to manual and bumbed it up a bit. Make sure you do it bi by bit and watch your temps.

Notice I have onli done it to 3.15 GHZ from 3.00 GHz. Got a bit of a crap cooler, not noticed much differences yet and temps are around the same (55C) it is a P4 478 Prescott so they are naturally hot.
