Currently got a Gigabyte X570 Aorus motherboard with a 3700x which i'd like to upgrade (currently got a 3070ti) and given prices of GPUs nowadays I'd like to shy away from doing a huge upgrade at this stage.

I see a lot of people recommending either the 5700x3d or 5800x3d - would either of these be a worth while upgrade over what I currently have? I see OcUK have a decent price on the 5700x3d at the moment which may tempt me....

5700x3d or 5800x3d if gaming or 5900x or 5950x for more production but all 4 will give your Am4 system a lease of life ;)

The X3D chips are the best gaming chips available for your platform. I went from a 3900X to 5800X3D and don't regret a thing. It will give this AM4 platform a long run before needing to upgrade.

I'm in the same boat and very close to pulling the trigger on a 5700X3D from a 5600X. Benchmarks in games I play seem to show a decently sized difference. I don't see it being worth the effort of selling the MOBO, RAM, and CPU and spending about an extra £200 to go to AM5 instead of spending about £120 (after selling my 5600X) for a 5700X3D that should hopefully let me skip the current generation.

If I could jump back in time to 2-3 months ago I would have done it without a doubt. I don't see a reason why the 5700X3D will go down seeing as the 5800X3D is just getting more and more expensive.

check out the reviews on youtube, depending on what you are playing it can be no upgrade to a massive upgrade

If you're running Windows 10 a cheap way to get extra performance would be to install Windows 11 h224 which massively improves how Windows handles the management of memory for Ryzen CPU's (up to 30% in sometimes cases).
