3700x and looking for an upgrade

Currently got a Gigabyte X570 Aorus motherboard with a 3700x which i'd like to upgrade (currently got a 3070ti) and given prices of GPUs nowadays I'd like to shy away from doing a huge upgrade at this stage.

I see a lot of people recommending either the 5700x3d or 5800x3d - would either of these be a worth while upgrade over what I currently have? I see OcUK have a decent price on the 5700x3d at the moment which may tempt me....

The X3D chips are the best gaming chips available for your platform. I went from a 3900X to 5800X3D and don't regret a thing. It will give this AM4 platform a long run before needing to upgrade.

I'm in the same boat and very close to pulling the trigger on a 5700X3D from a 5600X. Benchmarks in games I play seem to show a decently sized difference. I don't see it being worth the effort of selling the MOBO, RAM, and CPU and spending about an extra £200 to go to AM5 instead of spending about £120 (after selling my 5600X) for a 5700X3D that should hopefully let me skip the current generation.

If I could jump back in time to 2-3 months ago I would have done it without a doubt. I don't see a reason why the 5700X3D will go down seeing as the 5800X3D is just getting more and more expensive.

If you're running Windows 10 a cheap way to get extra performance would be to install Windows 11 h224 which massively improves how Windows handles the management of memory for Ryzen CPU's (up to 30% in sometimes cases).

I'm in the same boat though have got my hands on a 9070 xt so the 3700x is really show it's ago now.
5700x3d is cheaper and can be had now but the 5800x3d clocks much higher.

I made exactly the same CPU switch. The X3D is so much better at gaming and it's simpler core config of all 8 cores haring lots of L3 makes a big difference to 4x 3 core clusters having to communicate across the infinity fabric.

My old 3900X ended up in my mate's server, much better use for it.
