If you could get either the new 5600x for around £273 or 3700x (brand new) for around £240,which one do you think is a better choice for a gaming only PC considering these prices and specs?

This has already been asked. Here's the link https://www.overclockers.co.uk/forums/threads/ryzen-5600x-vs-3700x.18901911/

The 5600X is unreleased so all we can do is guess and speculate. Wait for Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed to review the 5600X as they will cover this in depth.
it's been asked but based on different/higher prices,I wanted to know which one's a better choice based on these prices.I know no reviews are out yet.but it's a now or never kind of a deal for both.

But surely the 3700x will drop in price when the new chips get released. We dont know how much yet. So we're still dealing with unknown prices.

I think the best value will be the 5600 (non x) but that's not due until next year.
Yes,but 3700x is still going for £280 in most places, and I doubt it will drop bellow £240 in next 2-3 months.I need the PC built before new year, and I can get 3700x for £240 or 5600x for £272.
also 3700x direct replacement is not 5600x but the 8 core 5800x which is significantly more expensive at £420 so no reason for 3700x prices to drop that much, more likely the prices will be around £230-£260 until last remaining stock is sold.

The question remains..is it worth getting 5600x over 3700x for gaming @ 1440P? Youtube reviews and benchmarks only focus on 1080P..the difference in 1440P seems to be minimal..how much are you willing to pay to upgrade from a 3700X to 5600X if you owned a RTX 3080 and were gaming at 1440P? Is it even worth it?

I have a Samsung Odyssey G7 240hz monitor and Nvidia RTX 3080.
still when it comes to CPU I’m after best value for money between 3700x and 5600x in 1440P resolution.I’m not convinced if 5600X outperforms 3700x in that resolution.
They seem vey similar.and 5600x is 6 cores which is not future proof at all even for gaming.

Is it worth upgrading from 3700x to 5600x if you game in 1440P?

I want to know how much are you willing to pay over 3700x for 5600x upgrade if you were gaming in 1440P??

Have a look
The 5600 destroys everything bar the i9-10900 and the bigger Ryzens
No need to look any further if gaming is your only thing now, then later pop a 5900 in if you need more cores at a later date when prices drop.
But this is 1080p.
I know it’s faster at 1080p,but like I said,I’ll be gaming at 1440P.
based on benchmarks Ive seen,it’s not much faster in 1440P.
I’d like to know if it’s worth paying extra for it vs 3700x if you are gaming at 1440P.and if yes how much?
