3700x temps

I find all this AMD tweaking off putting. Beta BIOSs yuck. I get that its a warm chip, but there seems to be a bit of a lack of information on what to set; auto/xmp/power management and thats just if you want to pop it in and go. AMD website should have list of hoops to jump through to get it to be a normal CPU.

Don't get this faffing with Intel do ya, huh?? :)

Why are we still on beta BIOSs? How long does it take to release something that works?

There's lots of non-beta BIOSes available.

You can just chuck it in and have it stable, it's just overclocking and boosting that is being tweaked currently. It's a new architecture on a new process, there were plenty of issues with Intel in the same situation - it's just they can't get their new process to work for several years now :D

4.2 is about the same for me, as I said in the above post the peaks are for mere ms's, prolly cos the cpu realises that ain't stable and backs off or it starts cooking. I've no average clock speed increase over my 2700X which was over 4.2,but yeah the ipc and performance is better I won't lie, but it would have been nice to see some clocks up for the temp gains.
Hmm, my temps were only ~55 degrees throughout. If that's "too hot" to boost above 4.3 then that's a bit disappointing to say the least. I mean I was sold a chip with a 4.4Ghz boost clock. And it wont hit that with excellent cooling? I call BS AMD.

What frequencies are people getting in gaming? I was watching last night and 95% of the time I was sitting at 4224Mhz. With, apparently a peak of 4374Mhz (but I didn't see this happen).

What is apparent but you did see it? It was either you saw it or not. What is your BUS speed? if it is not 100, then you will not see 4.4GHz? Most BUS is set 99.8.

It was recorded as Max speed. But any time I looked it was 4224ish. (to be honest it could have happened when the game was loading for all I know).

It does not matter when it happened. Normally it happens when you open an app. But it happens. Check your BCLK or BUS. It should show in HWINFO64 or CPUz. A simple setting in Windows power plan can alter boost clock. But the temp is has the most influence. The lower the temp the better chance you'll see it boost to spec.

I love how you edited my posts but not the troll starting crap calling me a monkey? Seems pretty troll to favour a fresh face over a very long term forum member who's participating in the conversations over a dude that's just here to troll and annoy people.
I've just sent you a message regarding this, and you couldn't be further from the truth, so please give us a chance to sort out the posts (including yours!) ;)

Length of membership is irrelevant. Space Monkey was actually working on this thread at the time and has already cleaned up the posts that you've incorrectly accused him of ignoring.

Personal insults are unacceptable here, especially when they're aimed at the Dons. If you have a problem with the moderating, please raise a thread in the FCD forum.

I recently built a new system using the Asus rog strix X570-E gaming board with the Ryzen 7 3700X and Corsair 32 GB pro rgb 3200 Mhz ram, I tried using the stock cooler at first but was getting idle temp's around the mid 50's so I bought the CM ML240R rgb AIO and now I'm getting idle temps between 35°C and 42°C which is a lot better but I was expecting the idle temp's to be lower considering it's a 65 watt CPU

Issue isn't wattage but thermal density, 65W in a tiny 7nm die gets hot quickly regardless of how good your cooler is.

My temps using the stock cooler are sitting around 55C in a Corsair Spec 06 case with sufficient intake and exhaust fans. I have a Coolermaster AIO on the way from an MSI promo - is this likely to reduce temps further at idle? The processes of fitting the stock cooler was ridiculous and the noise is almost unbearable when not using headphones.

I really don’t know and I’m just guessing here but it is the summer in the uk and room temps are pritty high atm and idle between 35 and 42 degrees when you room is well into the 20s degrees have a delta of between just guessing here 8 and 15 degrees with the aggressive boosts that your cpu is doing is pritty good .

Don’t forget even a aio can not cool a cpu below room temp so basically being the summer your temps will always be a lot higher then normal between warmer air going though rad and water has to be at least room temps = hotter pc :)
