3700x vs 3800x

Hi,

I'm probably missing the obvious here - but is the only different between an amd 3700x and 3800x retail kit a 0.1ghz max turbo clock speed? Seems a minor difference for almost £100 extra?

Was originally thinking of going for a 3900x, but with availability low to none, and prices going up looking at an 8 core instead.

Thanks all - just watched that vid too. 3800x slightly better binned (supposedly) and generally considered not worth the difference unless you want the best possible 8 core for OC?

My intel 3770k is running 4.4k all core quite happily, so I think it all boils down to how much difference in my mixed usage I'll get going from 4 to 8 core, and if I need all the newer options.

The motherboard choices are the next biggie.

You do realise Ryzen 3000 4.4GHz is around 5.4GHz of 3770k ?

Yup, realise it's not equivalent.

Just ordered a 3700x and asrock taichi board. More cores would have been nice for using VMs and such - but will wait and see how the 3950x turns out now, and upgrade to that if needs be.
