Hello Mr 8pack! :D

Going by the spec in my sig, what would be an effective CPU overclock that would stop my SLI 680s from bottlenecking? I don't want something massive as I've noticed in the past when attempting to OC my chip that it takes fairly large amounts of voltage and even though I'm water-cooled, it's a single loop so the tempt do occasionally go above 70 when stress testing.

Thanks in advance,
Ross

In the past for gaming 4.5ghz seems to be the sweet spot its what I run mine at what voltages and temps are you getting at stock?

Ok guys cheers! I've had it stressing on Prime95 for 12 hours while I was at work at 4.2 and it's not giving me any errors. I'm just going to continue upwards in 100mhz steps now.

Dont bother with Prime just use your games as stress tests as you need gaming stability.

For 4.4 - 4.5 you usually need 1.3-1.35 Vcore.

I wouldn't have thought a 3770K at stock would bottleneck these cards! Oh well. It would seem this CPU hasn't got long left :(

I am not sure with two if it bottlenecks too much. Certainly the sweet spot is around 4.4 for gaming.

At stock it will bottleneck them a bit. Same as my haswell, (currently at stock). I found 4.5ghz to be the sweetspot with oc'd sli 670's.

Did you test this for sure Setter?? Whats the bottle neck in %. Three cards plus really do need like 5g to fly.

Mainly playing bf4 theese days, (when it works that is), stock speed cpu and gpu's. Cards boost to 1189/1150mhz core respectively. Below is a screeshot from HWInfo after a full round on a 64 player conquest server.

Average card use is pretty low at 45%, when i had the cpu running at 4.5ghz card usage was a good bit higher. Ill be sticking the cpu oc back on soon though.

Mine takes just 1.23v to get to 4.5 but the heat is intense even on water need to pop the lid on this and see what she will do up to 1.3v

Temps on my old 3770k @4.5, 1.34v were much lower than my current 4770k @4.5, 1.2625v. 81c max on the ivy, 94c on the has well. Never stress test it now though.
