Hi guys

Just wondering what temps I should be seeing with this combination at stock and low fan speed.

Running IBT and getting between 74°C - 78°C across the cores. I know Ivy runs hot but it seems high to me considering the stock cooler managed 80°C albeit it at much higher fan speed .

I've tried twisting the rad around whilst the PSU is shorted out to try and dislodge any air bubbles that might be caught, and I can just about feel the pump vibrations in the pipes.

I've remounted with AS5.

Suggestions?

Edit:

I think they're may be something amiss, on low speed the rad eventually gets quite warm, I can click the fan speed up and then after a while it feels much cooler to the touch again but the temperatures reported by core temp are only about 5°C lower.

All I can say is that I have the same CPU and with the stock cooler under prime95 I was 84c. I improved this to 81c with mx2 paste and putting an intake fan over my heatsink. Still too hot for comfort as Intel recommends 67c max operating( this is not Tj). This worries me as I was looking at the same heatsink to solve my problems but also I new case with better airflow. What case do you have now?

I've found out that my two different operating systems are reporting two vastly different temperatures under full load.

OS 1: The temps were a steady 80°C at 3.7GHz (turbo) with the stock cooler, I've upped the turbo speed and am now seeing about 72°C at 4.1GHz stock voltage with the H80 on low speed, which still seems pretty high, but at least makes a bit more sense considering an 8 degree drop in temps, a small over clock and the slower fan speed (Though the fan speed seems to make almost no difference between Loud, Vacuum Cleaner and Jet Engine - I know, GT's but they're almost as much as I paid for the cooler )

Windows 8: At 3.7GHz (turbo) Using Coretemp, one minute the system would be reporting the temps in my original post, and then would suddenly and instantaneously drop to around the 65°C - 67°C mark and then jump back up again.

This leads me to believe that the H80 has in fact done it's job, and it's just that Coretemp/Windows 8 appears to have some issues when it comes to reading temperatures from my system. Though the temps do still seem very high, I've used AS5, however it is pretty old so I'm considering just getting some

My case is just an old full ATX tower, but I'm currently running it with the side panel off anyway.

I wonder if my old socket 775 Xigamtek HDT-S1283 would fit 1155? Could do a quick comparison using that to see if my H80 is working as well as it should be.
