heys guys, new to overclocking but looking to get the most out of my cpu, Just been messing around with the settings,

4.3ghz with 1.170V CoreVolt with temps around 72-76 on Prime 95

I have no idea if thats a comfortable OC, im not looking to go to very high levels just want that little bit extra from my cpu,

any comments would be useful :)

I cant see what cooler your using? with a good cooler and a decent chip you could expect to reach 4.5-4.6ghz

4.5ghz is a nice sweetspot tho

Megahalem Rev C with 2 SP120 fans,
Im not really after anything more i just want a reasonable overclock to make it worth it for my rendering and wanted to make sure they are safe Voltages and temps to expect at that frequency!!

would there really be a difference between 4.3 and 4.5?? that would be that noticeable?

not really, just go with what you can achieve with that cooler ect

is 1.170v the lowest cpu voltage you can be stable with? is it a fixed or an offset voltage?

you could try a low or medium llc and a negative offset, maybe -0.010v and increase it more to reduce load cpu voltage further if need be

its a offset with a -0.40V on it, and no i havent had a unstable system yet,

it would reduce idle and load temps, less voltage = less heat = lower temps

aslong as its stable theres no limit to how low your cpu voltage can be

ive reduced it to -.60V with unstable system, so upped it to -.45, why would anyone overvolt a system if that increases temps?

you only need to overvolt if your overclock needs it ect,but for stock or mild overclocks or auto voltage you can nearly always use less or even undervolt
