sup 8pack!

i've been trying to get my head round this problem for some time now basically i have 4.6ghz stable and i've been trying to achieve 4.7ghz.. the problem arises when i raise the vcore regardless of what clock speed my cpu is at.

for example my current settings are stable 18hours prime/60 max passes IBT.

46x100
all c-states disabled
VCCSA 1.625
vcore offset + 0.35 results in 1.232 vcore
LLC on ultra high
pll voltage auto
pch voltage auto
spread spec disabled
all digi on extreme

basically if i raise my vcore to say 1.28 with the same settings above i get pretty much instant bsod when running prime or ibt error code 0x124, even if i drop clocks back down to normal. any suggestions on what would be the next best steps to take?

regards

ahh just noticed my mistake that voltage was ment to read 1.0625. so is the VCCSA directly linked to vcore? i know VCCSA and VCCIO are linked on this board which controls the voltage to the memory controller?. i only get the problem when i use a higher vcore. if i leave everything stock then change vcore to 1.3 with stock clocks running 1600mhz on the memory then run prime i get the same error code, infact i've tried 1.4vcore and it fails at windows logo with bsod 0x124.

i'll mess about with VCCSA and see what happens.

regards

Oi Vonex .... so we're not good enough for yer are we ? Have to ask the grand master do you ?! :D Good work 8 pack

no comment :D... !

i'm currently back to default testing.... hopefully wont get sick and restore my previous overclock, will report back in a day or so
cheers

ok, been testing for a full day now... still cant get any sort of joy i need 1.288vcore to get no WHEA errors but still getting bsod 0x124 , tried adding phc voltage, VCCSA, PLL 1.45 to 1.9

next thing to test would be the turbo settings ? not sure if thi should be touched on z77?

using 1600mhz 10 10 10 28 1t while testing

speed step is enabled i was just testing it when i took that pic

i'll try adding more vcore, prime fails instantly at 1.288 but i can pass 15mins at 1.264 but i get WHEA errors

yeah ram passes memtest, highest i've seen on the cores was 82c which is high considering the cooling i have!

ive tried 2 motherboards, 2 ram kits all the same bsod when using more vcore.. think i can safely say i have not been able to get it over 4.6 in 7 month i've had this cpu.. might be time to give up

yeah might do, speaking of ram timings what would be the best timmings for the ram at 2133mhz.. never really understood ram timings and currently have hem at 9 10 10 24 1t does this make sense?

Not neccessaryly the CPU may have high thermals.

Check your mount, check the downward pressure of the mount. Get a volt meter and measure the actual Vcore being applied.

i have re-seated the block 5-6times with 4 different thermal pastes all with the same results.

i'm using xspc raystorm and its as tight as it can be.

bought new cpu and sold my old 1 on well known auction site,
running at 4.7ghz @ 1.416vcore:o:o cpu pll 1.65v vccsa 1.0625v, pch 1.09v.

4.6 at 1.32v my old chip only needed 1.232 for 4.6 but could not run 4.7

temps are skyhigh! ran prime for 6hours max temp was 93c!

6 Hours!!! Is your PC's primary use Prime??? well 5.5 hours wasted there then!!! 1.41 is too much for 24/7 to be honest at 90+ C.
not what i wanted to hear... dont think i can get the vcore down at all with out getting WHEA errors, i'll try and reseat the cpu block inabit just to make sure there is no air bubbles in the paste.. cant find my mx4 so only got as5 to hand!

i'm an online gamer so need my system to be stable for good amount of time, nothing worse then bsod when in the middle of intense pwnage :D

i took your advice on the chip running to hot and decided to delid it, just got round to applying liquid pro and omg what good results, i was seeing 95C at the same point with intel paste.
