380 PS3 games by march 08

UK, June 21, 2007 - Kazuo Hirai, the new president of Sony Computer Entertainment, has promised there will be 380 games released for PlayStation 3 by March 2008 - consisting of 200 retail titles and 180 PlayStation Network games.

Speaking to Japanese newspaper Nikkei Business Daily, Hirai explained that Sony plans to release this glut of games within the company's current business year, starting back in March 2007. That, fact fans, equates to seven PS3 released each week to meet Hirai's promise. Worldwide, there are currently 60 titles available for PS3 along with 50 PSN games, meaning Sony certainly has its work cut out.

Hirai also stated that Sony will work closely with videogame publishers to ensure better marketing, including events and in-store promotions, to bolster the PS3's sales.

Not sure if its new games or 380 plus whatever else is about, one thing confusing about this statement is the 60 titles available and 50 PSN games? Not sure where they are but i cant find them, unless it means 60 games announced ? Another case of using the PS3 motto " wait and see" but we all knew it was going to be like this at first.

60 games? Whenever i walk into (competitor) I see the same ten games there every week.

I would belive sony when i actually see them all in the shop up for sale. Half of the games on the PSN dont even count as game in my opinion.

Mmmm Hmmm... Virtual console/Arcade/PSN games shouldn't count in these figures.

I doubt they'll get that many by then. If they're on other platforms it won't matter anyway.

I cant see that happening at all to be honest, I'd be surprised if it was over 100 at this rate, sick of walking into shops to see maybe 1 new title every 2 weeks

The console is a joke at the moment it really is. For more reasons than just games.

And yes, I own one thanks before you start

I've been renting PS3 games from lovefilm, they have over 30 titles ready to rent right now.

I imagine there are 60 titles out right now, but probably not in this country.

A lot more people have 360's/Wii's though thus making 380 games on PS3 not such a big deal if they're all cross platform. I'm merely talking about what it means to Sony, not the user.

So it seems that Sony have recognised the PS3's current major problem - lack of games.

Unfortunately they are going to deal with it in the traditional Sony way of making outrageous claims and unfulfillable promises.

To be honest I don't want 380 games in the next 8 months, 10 Killer titles would be much better imo.

5 or 6 games a DAY??? That would give us a thousand games by the end of the year!!!
