well im stuck as to whether i should get dual core 2 x cores with 512k cache each or just one core with 1mb cache. Dual core would be nice as i extract a lot play music lots of games etc but its fairly expensive at 200 where as i can get the san diago 3700 for 140 which is more reasonable imo, can anyone make my mind up for me :p

I've been wondering about these two cpus as well. I read that some people have clocked the 3700 to 3.2ghz. If I could get one to about 2.8Ghz using less then 1.55-volts as I don't want to kill my CPU with some insane 1.6 volt's or more.

I want to do this with Air Cooling as water is just a pain in the ash. I wondering do I get OEM or Retail as I don't know which as the best stepping?

I got mine a couple of weeks ago, the stepping is "KACAE 0601" which was an OEM chip. It's gone to 2.75 no probs on 1.4 which is what I'm liking the most out of this chip. My previous Winnie 3200 went to 2.4 on 1.5, which I felt was pushing it a bit.
It seems pot luck at the moment with the Sandy, as I've seen some get 3.0+ and other struggle upto 2.6. But the last lot of OEMs have been OK.

I've seen X2 3800s do 2.3-2.4 on stock volts right here on ocuk ;) Also I'm seeing more games\apps make use of dual core as time goes on.

Yep, I see it the same, but right now the games I play don't and I don't really do a lot of high processor load multi tasking. But as soon as my fav titles go Dual, you'll see my Credit Card melt. Dual is definately the future, I read a little while ago that AMD / Intel see the future not as massive Ghz cpu's but multi core's on one CPU, maybe it wont be long before the first 4 core CPU is announced. Until then my SD will do me. :D
