hi there,

I was wondering what a likely overclock would be from a 3800 x2 manchester? Ive read the toledos overclock better, is this true?

thanks,
ghgh

Toledos tend to clock better as they are failed 1 meg cache cores (dual core opty/4200/4800 cores) so were speed binned higher in the first place.

I would expect a manchester to get around 2.5 with extra volts..anymore and its a bonus, some even go past 3ghz!

Yes Toledo clocks better!

Manchester ocs vary a lot from 2.4~2.8 generally depending on steppings, anymore will require crazy volt and cooling.

thanks for the replies

i've bought one and it should be here either tomorrow or monday. Will let you know how I get on overclocking it.

regards,
ghgh

My 3800X2 939 goes to 2.4g on stock 1.3v and am currently running 2.6g at 1.35v which the highest my asrock board allows me. windows boots ok at 2.7 and is usable but apps tend to crash very quickly so probably needs more juice to be stable.

ive got two the first one was one of the first to come out and would do 2.5 on a dfi and 2.4 on an abit , temps were the only thing stopping me going higher

the second one goes to 2.6 will do more but the temps were far better on this one for some reason on the same hardware

id say 2.4 is the norm for day to day 2.5 and above for a good one without getting high temps

meant to say there is a thread in here going back with a database of cpus showing core volts needed and best overclock look for the x2 3800 overclocking thread

Yeh I was looking for this but couldn't find it?

Really impressed with this processor, just installed it.

It's faster than my 3500+ at booting windows, even at 2.2GHz when the a64 was at 2.907!

Now to get onto some proper clocking.

The guy I bought it off said it was a Manchester but CPU-Z says its a Toledo.

Lcbie 0619rpmw . Runs super pi at 1.380v @ 2700MHz. Seems stable so far.

ghgh

my 4400+ is running nicely at 2.8Ghz, completely stable 24/7 on air at 1.4V

nice, gonna try 2.8gig now.

would it be worth lowering my RAM divider to 133MHz, as this RAM won't do over 230MHz and right now with the CPU @ 2700 the RAM is @ 225.

would I get better performance @ 2700, 225 or 2800 on the 133 divider?
