Sorry if this seems unnecessary but it takes so long to pour through page after page after page in the main ryzen thread every time I login looking for specific information regarding the 3800x, as there is very little on Google.

So thoughtw could have somewhere for info specific to the 3800x in one place.

Who has one?
Reviews?
When is it available?
Why is it so late?
Does it even exist?

Why did AMD deliberately hold it back? There must be a reason. They must have thought it would hurt sales of the 3700x, 3900x, or both.

Not sure its been held back, Here in NZ its been available from launch day just wasnt sent to reviewers and uk stores it seems

Are you sure? There isn't a single review on YouTube or the internet regarding the 3800x. Surely there would be a NZ one if that were the case.

Im not so sure about this CPU, very strange edition to me, £50 more for what appears to be only 100mhz faster than the 3700x, is there any real point to it.

Isn't it just a binned 3700X? Same cores count, slightly higher clocking. Probably just takes a little longer to build up stock than the 3700X. Reviews probably lacking for the same reason, a higher clocking 3700X part that's hardly worth reviewing.

I suspect the issue is that the cores that go into the 3800X are more valuable in other CPUs, either being kept for the 3950X release or elsewhere.

Yes. been in and out of my cart at at least 3 retailers here since launch. All have it listed as in store stock and i even rang one place to confirm.

I wonder if the gain with these 3000 series CPUs will be higher sustained all core speeds rather than the single core boost? Would account for the higher TDP perhaps?

I honestly think these chips are gonna turn out to be the better buy over the 3700x and that they are rarer (due to binning) and thus holding them back to get all the 3700x sold.

.300mhz idle and .100mhz boost per cpu is actually quite a large change and having the same tdp vs 3900x will surely make for longer and higher boost clocks (aslong as you have the cooling).

I have seen a few reviewers point out that they now have one (and for multiple days) so i honestly think they were told to wait for shipment day (seemes to be around the 20th-23rd) and then release them as it makes no sense for them financially to hold onto a review that would be very popular (due to no reviews being out)

I feel like the 3800x's will end up being better for boosting than the 3700x. But will need to wait for full reviews to see whats up. I mean its 105w tdp vs 65w on the 3700x, there surely has to be a reason for that?

Maybe the 3800x's just boost more often and stay boosted for longer period of times, not to mention the higher base clock, so for day to day it will run reasonably faster

3800x in stock right now at a large German retailer....hopefully caseking and ocuk arent far behind. Even then I'm still waiting on the Gigabyte x570 itx board and Corsair MP510 ssd coming in stock.

Cancelled my original 3800X order as the site i got it from has a promo today and the 3800x is being listed £40 or something cheaper, although it'll be another 4 or something extra days for delivery, being as its still over a week away i decided i can wait the additional time for another £40 saved, so all told it will cost me £295 delivered, with my £50 voucher i had for the site as well... been reading a lot of people ordering them from the same site however have had emails stating not to expect supply until August / September!!
