Just a quick one..

Don't game on the PC that much these days but would still like to be able to fire up CSs now and then and give some newer games a try. Mostly into FPS, maybe the odd RPG.

My system is a phenom x4 9550 - 4gb ram - vista 32 bit (First time I have ever bought a branded PC from a shop, won't be doing it again...)

Current monitor is an OLD iQ17+ hyundai magequest at native res 1024 x 1024 - This will most likely be upgraded at some point this year.

Found a 256mb Radeon 3850 locally for £45 - Seems like it should do the trick for me unless anybody can advise otherwise ?
Don't want to be spending much more than around £50 really. Most of my gaming is on the 360 these days - first kid on her way any time soon too so money is a little tight just now.

if ur happy to play on low detail settings then u should be ok....is the card worth that much ? dunno but i wouldnt pay that for it.

surely there is a better buy for 50 quid...cant u get a 2nd hand 3870 512mb for abt that much anywhere ?

Fair point, cheers memory.

Had a quick look round and it looks like £45 is a bit steep for the card. Should be able to get something quite a bit better for around the same money.

I had a 3850 256mb when I had a 1280x1024 monitor and it was really good. It even played crysis quite well. Then I had a 1680x1050 screen and the performance was destroyed, it really was. Games such as COD4 and crysis went from running good to being unplayable.
