Guys are there any benchmarks/reviews out there that run BOTH cards in XFire together?

Reason being, I've sold my GTS on 'the bay' and the 3870 I ordered is ETA of next week... so I'm stuck without video = no computer.

So i thought I'd grab a 3850, they are in stock and then throw it together with the 3870 when it comes.

If you are going to crossfire, get two of the same card, just hold out a week and get two 3870's :)

If you desparately need a PCie card go grab a £25 nail just so you can use your PC for now.

The problem you'll have is that the maximum video memory that can be used in an SLi/Crossfire system, is the amount of the lower card, meaning your 512MB 3870 is limited to 256MB :(

Well I can't be without a graphics card for a week so I've ordered a 3850 anyway.

I can always sell it on afterwards for a little loss, although with current stock levels depleting I might even make my money back.

256MB, can't find any 512MB and seeing as I need the card tomorrow I've opted for the former... it's in stock.

Remember this card is to merely pass a week of time before my 3870 arrives.

Also judging by the benchmarks I've seen, overclocked the 3850 will comfortably match my outgoing 8800GTS 320MB. The 3870 overclocked, once it arrives, will easily out perform the GTS.

can you let me know how it is, especially with AA, as I'm considering a 3850 512mb (I can't help feeling the 8800GT is worth the extra over a 3870 because of the lacklustre 4xAA performance of the 3870 in comparison)
