Hi all

I've had this problem with my PC since I built it, can't figure out why it's happening. When I play games after a while the screen and audio hangs, and then I get a "no input signal" on my monitor, and I have to hard-restart the PC to get it going again. So far it's happened in CoD4, C&C3 and Civ 4. (not GTA SA or Max Payne 2)

It's not overheating and all the power plugs possible are plugged in. (1 on the gpu, 1 molex on the motherboard) Does anyone have any ideas what could fix it? I'm on the latest catalyst drivers at the moment.

Specs:
Core 2 Duo E6550
Abit IP35 motherboard
GeIL PC2-6400C4 4-4-4-12 2x1gb kit
HIS 3850 Pro Turbo X 512mb
Enermax Liberty 500W PSU

Cheers :)

Not overclocked i presume?

Use rivatuner to check what happens to the clock speeds during these hangs. Ati powerplay is currently too aggressive and results in problems in games which glitch for a second. When the glitch happens, powerplay assumes that full gu power isnt needed and kicks in. This obviously makes the issue infinitely worse.

You can fix this by using a rivatuner profile which fixes the clocks to that of 3d and use this when playing games.

I tried bumping up the ram to 2.3V (was on 2.1) as I had problems with RAM during the windows install, but I just played COD4 for all of 10 seconds before it froze!

And nope, not overclocked at all. Where can I get rivatuner profiles from?
